GoodBye Windows Movie Maker…Hello Camtasia!!

Enjoying The Next Level of Video Marketing

As most experienced internet marketers know, there are a multitude of marketing techniques that can be leveraged to drive traffic to your website and generate leads to your on-line business.  While I do use a variety of techniques in my business, I admit video marketing is one of my favorites.

Let’s face it.  We are a media driven society.  And, in a media driven society, video stands out.  For the first several months of using video marketing in my business, I used the same software a large majority of my colleagues use and recommend, Windows Move Maker (WMM).  This is actually a great FREE software application that comes standard with most PCs today and for the price (free) puts out a pretty decent quality video.  In fact all of my video posts prior to this one were created on WMM.

Recently, however, while trying to step up the quality of the video production for a very special project I was working on for a friend, I decided to give Camtasia a try.  And boy am I glad I did!!!

Since, video editing concepts are similar regardless of the software you are using, I didn’t anticipate a huge learning curve, but I was surprised at exactly how easy it was.  After a quick five minute tour around the navigational buttons I was off to a great start.  I found Camtasia very user friendly and the quality was way better than what I’ve ever gotten from WMM.  For the most part, I found the transition from Windows Movie Maker to Camtasia to be relatively seamless.

And…since I’ve gotten my feet wet with Camtasia, I have to say I will find it hard to go back to WMM, although I’m sure I will pay WMM a visit every now and again when I need a quick edit or two.

For now though, I will have to say goodbye Windows Movie Maker…hello Camtasia!!!

So…here it is…my FIRST Camtasia project.  The friend I completed the project for was very happy with the outcome, as was I.

Check it out…

    Wow! Great video Krista!

Camtasia by Techsmith is a fantastic product. They also create Jing which records videos up to 5 mins which is perfect for social media. They have a free version and the pro is only $15 for the year.

In my recent blog post in avoiding burnout I cover nourishing your spirit.

Thank you! Looking forward to your upcoming videos!

    God bless,

Thank you for your comments! I have used both Jing and Cam Studio for some stuff in the past, and really found them to be great tools.

I must admit though that this full version of Camtasia is rockin’ and I am really enjoying all the “bling” effects it offers in production!

Excellent Krista, I’ve been using Camtasia for several years now and your video is much better than mine :-) I just mainly use it to record the screen and not to do any slideshows.

It’s a fantastic bit of kit.

Goodbye Movie Maker! Welcome to the world of camtasia! I’m looking forward to some how to videos :-)

Windows Movie Maker was a big headache for me especially when I wanted to import photos. I use Camtasia and now that it has spoiled me, I won’t go back. Camtasia has so many features from screen-record to simple editing with music, call-outs, transitions, picture in picture and more. My last blog post has a video done with Camtasia too!

    Thanks Krista!

First, I LOVE the song. It is gorgeous! So neat to discover new music. Thanks!
As far as Camtasia goes, wow. I am really impressed with what you created. I definitely need to get this platform. I have not liked the limitations of Windows Movie Maker. Not that it’s bad…just limited.
Glad to know the learning curve isn’t high with Camtasia. Looking forward to seeing what it’s all about!

    Hey Krista,

Great post. I agree that video is the best way for marketing online these days. I have started doing videos recently and up until know have not done any editing with them. The raw last cut always gets to be posted. I have started using Camtasia this past weekend for some how-to-videos on tribe syndication and had a great experience. I look forward to using it more in the future as I expand my use of video marketing. Thanks again for all that you share.

    Make it a great day!

Great Work Krista. Love the disclaimer…lol

Great Tip on the Camtasia. I recommend Movie Maker if you have nothing else. Just get started with your content. The message is the most important part, but as you evolve Camtasia rocks…

When are you going to evolve to the MAC? :) :) :)

    Krista Abbott Reply:

    Nick,
LOL. There you go with that Mac stuff again! hahaha.
Thanks for the comps. I agree, WMM is a great tool. I will still use it when I need to get something up on the fly…it’s a lot faster than camtasia. But I am totally diggin’ the quality perks that come with the real deal. :-)

Believe it or not, I have Camtasia but have been using WMM to edit my videos. I’ve been using Camtasia exclusively for screen capture videos…..well that’s about to change :-)

    Krista,
Great job on the video project for the church. It was very inspirational and well done.

I’m currently using iMovie for the movies I am using on my blog and for marketing. I love how it works but I’m noticing that as I grow and the things I still want to do with my videos are beyond the scope of this program. I have been thinking about Camtasia as the next piece of the puzzle. Thanks for showing me what it can do.
